Bank of America should integrate all their state account systems 3 cheers

I opened my BoA account in Washington in 1998. I moved to New York in 2005. I spent the summer of 2006 in California. This has caused me no end of problems as the Washington accounts are in some sort of weird, siloed space that doesn’t integrate with their overall system. When you call BoA, they won’t recognize your WA account number as a valid account number- you have to make sure you say “oh, my account is in Washington state.” Depositing checks in NY to my WA state account, until a few months ago, had to be done by teller, and there was a 2 week delay on an important check when I moved to CA. How hard can this possibly be? They’ve been promising integration for two years now.

As an avid advocate of System Intigration for the bank, I personally have discovered a bypass for this problem. I live in washington state, and therefore have to deal with the dreaded legacy SeaFirst system. If you want all the benifits of the REAL bank of america, open an account online, first selecting your state as Arizona. It doesnt matter that you actually live in washington. Infact, you can now make deposits at the ATM in any state, regardless of where your account was opend. I personally, visit a teller if my deposit is over $100. And here’s a hint, I discovered a few months ago that you dont have to use there crazy intra-state counter deposit tickets. I was able to use one from the back of my check book and it worked fine! I since then have ordered a $3.00 book of deposit slips. This is nice because most of the info is pre-filled for you. The only thing, is its probable your teller will try and convince you that its better to open a Washingon (or Idaho) account. My new resoponce is “I’d Leave this bank before I would ever use a washington account again.” They get the picture!
